May 2, 2017

Digital Nova Scotia is one of the proud sponsors for the Skilled Futures in Technology, presented by Skills Canada – Nova Scotia (SCNS) on Wednesday, May 3. This career exploration event, which is set to take place at Acadia University, promotes technology use and innovation to junior and senior high school students through educational, fun and interactive workshops ranging from robotics and computer programing to motion capture applications. Sixty students in grades 8, 9 and 10 from the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board are expect to attend on Wednesday.

“Some students in Nova Scotia are considering a career in a technology but many aren’t aware of the opportunities available in the ICT sector. Our Skilled Futures series is an interactive opportunity that allows students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of career options. Student participants gain valuable experience to draw from when they are faced with making an informed decision about their future and potentially discover occupations they may not have considered before,” said Courtney Gouthro, Executive Director of SCNS.

Skilled Futures in Technology is one in a series of one-day career exploration events taking place from October to June at locations across the province.
