October 12, 2017

Junior Achievement Nova Scotia (JA Nova Scotia), a member of JA Canada, has published its 2016-17 Annual Report. It highlighted the team’s effort to help young people across the province to become more financially literate graduates with accelerated career tracks and increased leadership potential. “In the 2016-2017 programming year, we delivered 601 programs to 13,344 students with 747 active volunteers contributing 11,481 hours of their valuable time.

Digital Nova Scotia (DNS) collaborated with JA Nova Scotia on the Company Program this past year. The student venture program attempts to show high school students the risks and awards of starting and running a business. Students get to create and manage a company of their own, and learn about how small businesses function in the Canadian economy. Volunteers from established IT companies in DNS membership guided the students through weekly mentorship sessions. DNS also supported the program’s award ceremony via contribution to scholarship.
