About the Workshop 

In recent years, the demand for user experience design has grown at an unprecedented rate. This growth trend is likely to continue as companies realize that providing great user experiences is a make-or-break issue for the success of their products and services. To meet these needs, companies are seeking out designers skilled in user experience to help them design better digital products and win over customers. At this workshop you’ll learn from Vadim how to design engaging and effective digital experiences through lectures, hands-on exercises, and class discussions. This highly-immersive two-day workshop is intended for both designers and non-designers. It draws extensively upon Vadim’s years of experience designing digital products at top global and Canadian organizations, such as Microsoft, Publicis, Ogilvy, Tangerine, and Canada Post. Drawing upon his teaching and mentoring experience, Vadim breaks down industry-tested principles, concepts, and methodologies into comprehensive and accessible lessons taught in a classroom setting. There are no prerequisites for this workshop, and participants do not need previous UX design or software experience to be successful.

About the instructor 

Vadim Tslaf is a design leader with nearly 20 years’ experience in designing digital content. Designing websites, mobile apps, SaaS applications, and everything in between, Vadim has worked for a wide range of organizations.

He has partnered with organizations of all sizes – from small start-ups to established tech companies, and from ad agencies to enterprises.  Vadim is currently the Director of Design & UX at Canada Post, where he leads a team responsible for the user experience of all Canada Post’s digital channels, and provides design support to Canada Post’s subsidiaries (Purolator and Innovapost).

He’s built the UX function at Canada Post: establishing a robust in-house UX Research practice; championing user-centred design culture in Canada Post; and growing the team from 8 to 30 interdisciplinary UX professionals across 4 teams – UX Research, Interaction Design, Visual/UI Design, and Content Strategy/UX Writing.

Previously, Vadim was the Manager of Interaction Design at Tangerine (Canada’s leading direct bank), where he led the IxD team responsible for design of several key initiatives, including: a responsive redesign of the online banking platform; an innovative digital onboarding process; an assistant tool designed to help customers to switch banks easily; and many other projects.

Prior to that, Vadim worked for companies such as Ogilvy & Mather, FCB, Publicis Groupe, and Microsoft.  Vadim has a B.Design in Visual Communication Design from Holon Institute of Technology, and a UX certification from Nielsen Norman Group. He’s heavily involved in Toronto’s design community and spends much of his time teaching and mentoring junior designers, conducting workshops, speaking at events and meetups, and participating in portfolio reviews.
