Press Release: Students in Annapolis Valley Explore Careers in Technology

May 8, 2018

Wolfville, Nova Scotia – Wednesday, May 9 2018

Over 60 students in grades 8, 9, 10 and 11 from the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education will be attending Skilled Futures in Technology, presented by Skills Canada – Nova Scotia (SCNS) on Wednesday May 9 at Acadia University. Skilled Futures in Technology is a one-day event that offers students the opportunity to explore technology career options by participating in hands-on workshops, ranging from coding to 2D animation, robotics, and virtual augmented reality.

“Careers in the IT sector are growing in demand” said Robin Lorway, Executive Director of SCNS. “Our Skilled Futures series allows students to immerse themselves in a variety of career options in technologies. The most exciting part of the day is when they discover a career choice that they may not have considered before.”

Skilled Futures in Technology is one in a series of career exploration events taking place from November to May at locations across the province. This event is made possible by the generous support of Digital Nova Scotia (DNS), Acadia University and the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency.

Skills Canada – Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit organization that provides opportunities for Nova Scotian youth to explore skilled trades and technologies, discover their passions, and strive for excellence.
