Mr. David McNamara
A leader, a champion, a friend…
Digital Nova Scotia would like to extend its sympathy to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. David McNamara. As a leader in the Digital Community and a Champion for all Entrepreneurs, David will be greatly missed. Throughout his career with the Nova Scotia government he has held senior positions in community, economic and business development. He pioneered the first government department in Canada focused on small business development. The impact of his legacy will continue with the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation he fostered in so many businesses and individuals here in Nova Scotia.
“I had the pleasure of working with David during my time at Innovacorp. He led an incredibly successful career growing and supporting businesses and entrepreneurial leaders in our Province,” says Ulrike Bahr-Gedalia, President and CEO, Digital Nova Scotia. “I’ve always admired his spirit and authentic approach to business. I also recall his kindness and thoughtful gestures toward me, whether it was the offer of an umbrella when it was raining or his cardigan on a cold day.”
As the VP of Incubation at Innovacorp, David was focused on the incubation centres in both Halifax and Dartmouth, and as President of Entrepreneur’s Forum (EF), he worked diligently with the EF team to develop a network of over 1000 volunteer advisors across the Atlantic region. David was also a key member of both the National Business Incubation Association and the Canadian Association of Business Incubation. David also played a significant role in establishing the federal government’s Start-Up Visa Program for immigrant entrepreneurs.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mr. David McNamara on July 13th, 2014 at the Old Ashburn Club House (3250 Joseph Howe Drive) from 2.00pm-4.00pm. Please feel free to attend.
