Students, Welcome! – Digital Nova Scotia – Leading Digital Industry
Students, Welcome!

March 8, 2019

Yesterday I participated in the NSCC Job Fair for students from the Institute of Technology Campus. Our Digital Nova Scotia team had the chance to talk to students about our free student membership, which gives them the opportunity to interact with Nova Scotia IT companies.

I was really surprised and excited to see huge desire and interest from students to learn more about current IT-opportunities. The Job Fair started at 10 a.m. and after several productive conversations with students, we realized that it was already 3 p.m.

“Hello, my name is Eric. Nice to meet you here” – a first-year web development student greeted me quickly with excitement. At this moment I understood that students were really interested in learning what Digital Nova Scotia can do for them (maybe that is why all DNS flyers were gone in just one hour)!

My colleague Angie and I did our best to talk with each student about DNS and our members, and by the end of the day, our voices were exhausted. We spoke with them about job opportunities with local IT companies, in particular, opportunities available with our 130 member companies. In addition, DNS has a great job board – we update jobs every day.

During the Job Fair, Angie and I had a chance to say hello to DNS members. Maplewave, VERB Interactive, REDspace, GoSecure, and CGI were participating at the fair yesterday. “We are good friends with Digital Nova Scotia”, – said Leigh Anne Dingwall, VP Human Resources specialist in Maplewave. We were really happy to meet our members yesterday.

If you haven’t heard about our student membership program, here are few details:

  • Student memberships are valid for 2 years
  • Memberships provide access to numerous networking, business development, learning, and innovation events.
  • Being a DNS member means you can provide input and participate in advocacy initiatives impacting our digital economy of Nova Scotia.
